GPS Working

At uni today I showed Jay the Apps I have created over the weekend, he even found the school boy error that was stopping the GPS app from working and it was as simple as removing the actionscript from the timeline and moving it to a separate action script file and now it works see below:

We tried to test the app on the universities android device but every time we published it the device seemed to disconnect from its synced state, after more testing using both devices we realised nothing could be published and as yet we are unaware what is causing the problem.

On a more positive note today I was asked if I would like to attend this year’s Hull Digital Conference and I accepted gratefully.

3rd App GPS

Today I attempted a tutorial I found that shows how to access and display onscreen GPS information but as yet it is not working. I have contacted the tutorials author for advice but I am still awaiting a reply.

2nd App

Today I completed the second part of Lee Brimlows ‘Air for android’ tutorials where you are shown how to activate the mobile devices camera for use within an application. The tutorial was easy to follow and I am very pleased with the results which you can see below:

1st Android App

Today I followed a video tutorial by Lee Brimlow, The tutorial explained setting up your phone and computer to deliver android apps. The tutorial is very good and is only 18 minutes long so why did it take me 4 ½ hours to complete? Any tutorial if followed correctly will involve you stopping at intervals and putting into practice the skills you are been shown, the problem I had was the web links you are asked to visit either do not exist anymore or have moved, so I had to hunt them down so to speak and just to make it more complicated some of the files you are asked to acquire have different names or are not needed with the new devices, never the less I have completed the tutorial and it actually works, see the screen captures below:

Wireframes and Visual Design

I have been working on the visual design of my supporting website over the past two days. I wire framed a number of possible layouts in order to give myself a clear view of what needs to be designed, helping me to see how the information will be organised on each page.

Below is a visual mock up that I created from the wire frames, I will use this mock up as part of my focus testing

Proposal Presentation

Today I presented my project proposal to my lecturers and my fellow class mates, it went very well and the feedback that I received afterwards was extremely positive.
