Today I have tried to learn about and create Gantt charts, this has been frustrating to say the least.
On Monday Jay said I needed to add a development schedule to my project proposal and he suggested using a Gantt chart, I explained I had no idea what one was or how to do one and he said I could just create a table but it would be useful for me to know how to do one in the future.
So I decided to take it upon my own back and learn how to create Gantt charts, I started by following a tutorial that showed how to create a chart using Microsoft Excel (view below)
http://www.projectsmart.co.uk/creating-a-gantt-chart-using-excel.html
but the results were not appropriate for display within my document.
I then tried an open source Gantt chart software called GanttPro but I could not display the results in a way suitable for my document.
Next I downloaded Microsoft project trail this seems like a nice piece of software and I think I now understand how Gantt charts are used in project management. With this software you can keep track of tasks, mark them as completed or not if you are falling behind and they seem to be a useful tool but what I seem unable to work out is how to display them on an A4 piece of paper, as when I try content is spread over pages and looks awful.
