Today I had a go at using the universities Android handset in order to follow an Android mobile development tutorial by Lee Brimlow:

During this video I downloaded and installed the Android SDK on my laptop and the Android sync programme. I had to abandon this tutorial when the uni’s wifi system stopped me from joining the Adobe Air for Android pre release programme.
I will continue this tutorial at home when my own Android handset arrives.
